MUSIC! AUTONOMIC!

Just finished a new track titled Autonomic, best grab a listen on the music player page! I wrote this song as a result of playing with the autowah/envelope filter effects (hence "Autonomic") built into my new Digitech RP-500 effects processor. From there it basically turned into a track inspired by Pitchshifter and the excellent guitar work of Jim Davies. I had always been amazed at the sheer guitar-synth craziness that Davies could produce with a limited set of effects. Now that I have similar tools at my disposal, it was simply time to bring these effect-focused guitar techniques into a song.
The very first intro riff is what started the whole writing process of Autonomic. It consists of a simple 3 note pattern, but thanks to the autowah the whole dynamic changes this riff into something almost more complex. Following the intro pattern is another simple 3 chord progression with a 311 style beat for a chorus. Due to the 'techno' nature of the autowah riff it was almost a must to throw in a breakbeat of sorts into the mix, which worked perfectly as verse. Towards the end of the track is where you'll find the most inspiration from Jim Davies, as I incorporated a whammy pedal-heavy guitar solo of sorts to finish things off.
All in all, this was a really simple track to produce, but also a lot of fun. Overall, I'm quite pleased with the result and hopefully you will be too! Be sure to check it out on the music player page along with three other fairly recent tracks. |
