New Year, New Music

The New Years always seems to bring about new beginnings. As I’ve recently gotten back into writing music and working on this site, it seems as if my work is starting to take off. Thanks to basically rediscovering my guitar, there are already three new tracks up and possibly a few more on their way in coming weeks. Due to some soundtrack work I did a few years back, I was also contacted to potentially do the score for an upcoming video game. Not even a week into 2009 and this year is already looking busy, yet awesome, for Solarian Studios.

If you haven’t heard my latest songs, please be sure to check out the top three tracks in the music player: Three to the Four, Mexico, and Neptune. Staying with the rock/guitar focused theme of my personal music, I’ve already got quite a few new ideas upcoming tracks. The first you’ll most likely hear is the result of playing with my new Digitech RP-500 and its envelope filter. It’s starting to evolve as somewhat of a Pitchshifter type track and hopefully I can find an excuse to throw in a Whammy pedal-heavy solo. The other ideas floating around are built off of classical/spanish type guitar patterns and are still quite fresh in the writing process. I’m not sure if I’ll squeeze these ideas into one track or a couple and whether or not moving into heavier progressions will work, but time will tell.

Unfortunately, I can’t give out too many details about the video game project for this year. I can tell you that this will be the most involved soundtrack I have worked on, considering I have done short films and other independent video game works. This will consist of a main theme song as well as about an hour of ambient/background music during gameplay, all of which will purely be orchestral. There is also a possibility that I may be working on SFX and audio mixing. It may be at least a year before I am able to show you what exactly I’m doing, but I figure that it’s a good time to build the suspense now!

On that note, be sure to stay tuned to Solarian Studios in coming months, and years :P
